GIS Specialist/Analyst

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geography/GIS, Science, Engineering or related field.

Experience:
•2 to 4 years experience in the GIS industry.
•Technical experience with basic geographic information systems (GIS) analyses on natural resource data.
•Basic knowledge of global positioning systems (GPS)
•Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
•Familiar with the principle, practices, and procedures used in GIS, software and systems development
•Experience with GIS development tools and programming languages
•US Citizenship is required as the applicant must be able to obtain a security clearance of an appropriate level following employment
•Technical work experience at SE Core Program preferred

Responsibilities:
•Plan, design, develop, document, and analyze basic spatial and relational databases
•Apply basic GIS and other software to manage spatial and related tabular data
•Build routine databases by digitizing map information
•Produce map products depicting spatial data (digital maps or map services)
•Assist in analyzing image data with image processing software
•Write basic software routines to facilitate analysis
•Research and acquire sources of GIS data from federal, state, local government and private business
•Operate a computer workstation, digitizer, printers and plotters
•Create basic user applications and interfaces using various programming languages
•Follow project standards to accurately develop and attribute geospatial data
•Communicate possible project efficiency improvements to senior technician/manager
•Attend in house project meetings, specific to assigned development project
•Maintain and develop technical skills through relevant and approved trainings
